FIJIFIRST party has complied with the Political Parties Act and its suspension has been lifted by the Fijian Elections Office.
Acting Registrar of Political Parties Ana Mataiciwa while confirming this on Thursday evening when she received submissions from the party.
She said the New Generation Party’s accounts did not meet the requirements of the law and they would therefore remain suspended.
“Should they not comply, this suspension will be extended to July 15, 2023,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
Meanwhile, Parliament’s Business Committee met yesterday afternoon and unanimously approved that the parliamentary business schedule for Monday, June 12 be deferred until further notice.
This was to ensure the efficient and effective preparation of the 2023-2024 National Budget before it was tabled in Parliament.
