From the Editor-in-Chief’s desk: Your June 9 briefing

Bula
There is so much hype hanging on the big game this weekend when the Fijian Drua take on the might of the champion Crusaders in Christchurch, New Zealand.
We hope to bring you some great coverage of that historic clash.
On the front page for Friday, June 9, we have a picture and story of a youngster who has just turned 20, getting the break of a lifetime.
He has been called up by coach Mick Byrne to be at openside flanker on Saturday.
Now that is a massive show of confidence by Byrne given the importance of the number 7 when we come up against a side like the Crusaders.
Imagine superstars the likes of former NZ All Blacks skipper Richie McCaw, Australian Wallabies skipper Michael Hooper, and back at home the likes of injured Drua Kitione Salawa who have made that number 7 a jersey to be treasured.
They pack skills, the physique, power and strength and amazing fitness levels.
They ran like backs, had energy to keep up with the pace of the game, and were hard men in the trenches.
They added a new dimension to the game, and were a reassuring presence on the field.
We remember other top openside flankers like the All Blacks Iceman Michael Jones, Scotland’s White Shark John Jeffery, Manu Samoa’s Apollo Perelini, former Wallabies exciting number 7 George Smith and our very own men like Setareki Tawake, Manasa Qoro, Iokimi Finau, Sela Gutugutuwai to name a few… we have our young and upcoming number 7’s full story inside.
However, the big one for the day is about the Coalition government appointed Fiscal Review Committee which has recommended that Value Added Tax be removed from the list of essential items and that a single VAT between 12.5% and 15% be considered by the Government.
