Despite having a fall out with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua at the beginning of the year, speedster Vinaya Habosi has been roped in by Fiji Water Flying Fijians head coach Simon Raiwalui to be part of his 45-member wider squad in preparation for the upcoming July test matches and Rugby World Cup (RWC) in September.
After his axing from the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific side back in Febraury, Top 14 giants Racing 92 were quick in acquiring the services of the 23-year-old former firefighter who has been a sensation for them this season.
Speaking during a press conference held at Rugby House on Thursday, Fiji Rugby Union interim administrator Simione Valenitabua said the squad laced with 22 Drua players were free from injury awaiting their all-important quarter-final clash tonight against the Crusaders in Christchurch and would march into camp at the beginning of next month.
“The team will come together on July 1st and will begin camp,” said Valenitabua in a press conference on Thursday.
“Most of the players in this team are well and injury-free subject to the quarter-final match between the Drua and the Crusaders.
“This team will not only prepare for the RWC but for the upcoming Pacific Challenges and test matches.”
Raiwalui will then name his final 33-member squad for the RWC after the July tests.
