Fiji Rugby Union interim administrator Simione Valenitabua is calling rugby fans to attend the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup final between Nasinu and Naitasiri at the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.
Valenitabua said both teams had earned their spots in the final through hard work and dedication throughout the pool games, and he was expecting a tough battle when the two sides face each other today.
“It’s just very pleasing for us here at the Fiji Rugby Union to see the development of women’s rugby in the country.
“We wish both teams the very best as they have earned their spot in the final, and we call out to rugby fans and spectators to come out in numbers and support your respective teams.”
He also thanked their sponsors, Royal Tea for sponsoring the Ranadi Cup competition, along with CJ Patel for sponsoring such tournaments and for staying on board with FRU.
“I just want to thank CJ Patel for staying on board with us even through the (COVID-19) pandemic, and for sponsoring all tournaments like this for a very long time.”
He said the development of women’s rugby in the country could be seen through the achievements of the Rooster Chicken Fijiana side that won the Super W title two years in a row.
“For players who are in local competitions like this in Fiji, they should look up to the achievements of the Fijiana Drua and aim at reaching that level of rugby one day.
“FRU is for the development of women’s rugby in the country and will always be.”
The final will be held at 11am.
