Players taking part in the Suva Netball Association club competition are raring to impress selectors for the World Cup.

Association president Georgina Lasaqa said they were confident they had players who were ready to wear the Pearls uniform.

She said this as she gave an update on the NewWorld IGA Suva Netball Association 2023 club league competition that was held on Tuesday at the National Netball Centre in Suva.

“Despite the unfavourable weather condition, teams that took part managed to get themselves ready for the competition,” Lasaqa said.

And with the Pearls selection looming, she said after watching the Suva squad’s performance so far, she was positive a number of their girls would assert themselves for a spot in the national side.

“Suva continues to push for more local squad members in the Pearls.

“After viewing their performance so far, and with only two months away from the World Cup, the girls in Suva are in top form.

“We are pushing potential players in Suva that just started, for them to be part of the national side.

“We’re hoping also the national head coach will be at the Hub series, given there’s only a few weeks left for the national selections.

“Suva Netball is grateful to its sponsors New World IGA, as the level of competition in Suva continues to build – stronger and better.

“And the girls we send for the Hub Series surely are geared and ready to pull a spot and wear the Pearls uniform.”

Meanwhile, in Tuesday’s round five games, Lomaiviti Ovalau defeated CBM 46-28 in the Super category.

Warden beat Lomaiviti Nairai 47-44 in a close match, and Tagimoucia Flames thrashed Alumni Sparks 50-16.
