The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coaching management set a target of 50 tries for their regular season this year, but with a spot in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific quarter-finals this weekend, the Drua are likely to add more to that number.

They scored a total of 30 tries in their inaugural season last year but have amassed 54 tries so far after the 41-17 win over the Reds last weekend.

“I know Glen Jackson will be very happy with that,” said Drua head coach Mick Byrne after the Reds match.

“When we had our first team meeting earlier in the year, he wrote the number 50 on the whiteboard and told us to try and guess what that was. He wanted us to get 50 tries and we’ve gone past that a bit.

“The coaches, Greg Fleming, Glen Jackson and Brad Harris have been awesome in reviewing the players’ performances each week.

“They’ve set targets for the boys and we have tracked them right from the start.

“With 54 tries so far, we’re going to have a happy attack coach.”

Iosefo Masi is the top try scorer in the Drua side with nine.
